I measured. It's almost the same lenght and the mounts are different on 07+ but older mounts work also.

If there any difference it's minimal and doesn't matter since it still bolts up to the car.

HR and VHR

VQ35DE transmission on my car.

I also live in Atlanta, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I'll try to locate an engine for you, I deal a lot with Junk yards. And good luck.

thats what the head tech at infiniti told me.

im not trying to bash the idea, im just saying there are a lot of obsticles to over come.

I do think its a great motor and in our gen would be faster, better mpg, cooler, and less chance of getting state reffed, etc.

I hope it works out for you. that would definitely be magazine status if you can pull it off.

A few days ago I went and talk to a shop that specializes in motor swaps called Lethal Injection. They did a 350z on my350z and put in an rb26 emissions ready.

I talked it over with them and IT IS possible to swap the motor and get electricals sorted out with the right parts and pass emissions and also make the car a push button start car. The bad news is that the interior will NOT have a factory fit and finish mostly because of the gauge cluster differences and push button start that still uses a regular key. There are also many things that all have to come from the same car to be able to start and unlock/lock the car.
Since I need a factory fit and finish I decided to not pursue the project anymore. Sorry everyone.

But I do have pics from the shop so the thread is not a complete waste.

Revup swapped 240 in these pics emissions ready. LS 240 emissions ready. LS turbo Camero. An imported Skyline and a few other cars.

Well at least we now know definitively that it bolts in.

The HR and VHR are all the same except cylinder heads and have the same dimensions. Because the HR was in a first gen chassis Z, the VHR also works in a first gen chassis . 03-08 Z and 03-06 G sedan and 03-07 G coupe.

For anyone wondering I got quoted 3-4k if I brought them a rolling chassis with everything in it. Everything has to be from one car. Another problem was finding a junkyard that had a "driving chassis" that was a 6 speed.

Hey Andrei I'm interested in swapping out my VQ3DE out of my 2006 G35 coup to VQ37HR.
How much information do you have on this?

G35 coupe 6MT
Bump

Hi all. New guy here using the search function reviving old threads.

I think it is safe to say there is some great info here and there is also a lot of new info that can be added. Well, at least from my research so far.

I am in a similar boat with a new to me 05 G35 6MT and a blown rev up engine.

really close to pulling the trigger on a VQ35HR from an 07 350z with the 6MT attached

Also found a VQ37VHR short block I want to add to this equation for more NA power. I look at this as a poor mans stroker kit.

Guilty Garage is providing the wiring harness & ECU and I’m using their FAQ page to do the swap.

jumped on this forum for guidance and insight from anyone who has been down this road before I spend $4-5k and several hours on what seems like a solid plan for this car vs throwing another DE rev up engine in her. Please chime in if you feel you can help.

I plan on doing all the work in my garage.

I am not a Nissan/Infiniti guy. Brand new to these cars.

If the plan to go through with this is solid I don’t mind starting my own build/swap thread if others think this would be a cool swap to document & would like to follow along.

My plans for this car is to get it running, get familiar with it on the road then learn how to drive it on a road course and possibly toss it around in the corners later.

TIA
