Stillen has more low range and mid range. Vortech has more high mid range and top end. Overall it has more whp but about the same under the curve as the Stillen. It depends on what you want out of it. IMO a turbo kit is a much better choice.

G35'ers Thanks for all the replies. I am learning a lot and taking what everyone has to say into consideration. Keep those opinions and advice comming, there all great. When I do install my mods Ill be sure to take and post pics along the way. Does everyone agree that if I'm gonna add headers to do it at the same time as the sc?
THANKS TO ALL!!!

Dont use headers with the stillen as the roots type blower likes back pressure. You will loose boost with the stillen if you do.

The best thing to do if you want real power from the Stillen is headers, and test pipes, a custom pulley for ~8psi and a custom tune on something like a UTEC, HKS or Haltech. That could make good power but by the time you have gone that far you might as well go turbo.

One guy says use headers on the stillen the other says dont use headers with the stillen. which one is it guys? anyway I'm thinking vortech now for two reasons.
1) I can keep my o.e. hood
2) everyone says I can get more power and I can still modify down the road it if I wish
So what about adding headers to the Vortech...Good or bad?
Thanks guys,

Headers and the vortech are a good combo.

when you're FI, more flow, more power.

If you like the vortech for power, you might as well go turbo. It will cost you less in the long run.

Vortech does sound a bit off IMO.

Why do you have no interest in going turbo? Vortech is just a turbo on a belt. Same issues and less power.

I dont want to go turbo because I have heard over the long run it is not good for your engine unless you go in and do alot of things to it first like forged crank ect,ect... then I am also not to keen on all the heat it builds up under the hood. I have also heard of cars catching on fire because the turbo unit was red hot. Then you have the whole lag situation, when I hit the gas I want the power to be there. Do you think a vortech and headers would be a good dependabl combo for a daily driver if the FI was conservitivty tuned, just like it comes from the factory?

Sounds like you've been hearing stories about users who arn't spending the money to do things right. SC is no different. At any given power level, the amount of supporting mods required are the same. The difference here is that the turbo guys tend to aim for more power.

Boost is boost, SC is just as hard on your engine.

SC creates a ton of heat too.

Vortech has way more lag than a single turbo. If you don't like lag, Vortech is NOT the kit to get.

Turbo with a good kit and good tune will be just as reliable and safe as a supercharger plus make more power because it doesn't rob power from the engine to spin it.

I know there has been tons of stuff written about this. but what about modifying your engine to be able to support a turbo? Is all that talk just a bunch of crapola or do I have to take serious measures to prepair my engine to be able to withsatand a turbo? I know everyone has their own opinions. Sooner or later I'm just gonna have to pick what I think is gonna work for me. I just want to try to do as much research as possible, and talk to as many people that have already been where I'm heading. I love my G and I dont want to turn my engine into garbage like my wife keeps telling me I'm gonna do. I just want to be able to make a good educated decision.
Thanks everyone!

On a good tune and low boost a stock block will still last a long time. I ran my car for a year on the stock block at 8psi 405whp/399wtq with no problems. The only reason I built the motor is that I wanted more power.

If you did a good single or twin turbo kit at ~7psi on a nice safe tune your car would last a long time and be a ton of fun to drive. You would have a good 100+hp/tq over what you have now. The tune is key. You'll need other supporting mods like gauges, good fuel and oil, make sure the car is warm before getting into boost, etc.
