This is upsetting.....with only 37,000 miles...

As I said in my first post here, I just traded in my GTP which I loved... and got a really nice 04 g35 sedan...only 37000 miles...

Well, last night as I was driving to my girlfriend's house to surprise her, I got a surprise of my own. The car kinda bucked as I came to a stop with the clutch in, and the VDC and slip and SES lights came on. I pulled over and shut down and restarted the car. Just the SES light remained on, and it seemed to run fine.

I just bought this car a few weeks ago. From a dealership that I used to work at. That is part of the problem. They know me. I bought it with a 50/50 powertrain warranty. I was kinda hoping out of good faith they would just fix it, since I JUST bought it...

Turns out it has a bad throttle body, at 37000 miles. My guess is the sensor went bad and from my understanding you cant just replace the sensor? I got this from searching a little last night.

So they want 160 (they are going halves with me)... to fix it.

Kinda crazy that I modded the **** out of my GTP for years and it was Forced induction... And I have this thing two weeks and the TB goes... I know its a rare case, but it really makes me wonder..is this a common thing with these cars?

Just kinda ranting...thanks guys.

It's happened to a couple guys, but it's not all that common. Don't be put off by that, you'll be in love with it soon!

Seems relatively minor and thankfully not too costly. But at 37k I agree, you wouldn't expect things to be going wrong.

Hrmm...ya not a common problem. If that happened 2 years down the road you'd probably not be as upset. Its mostly cuz its a "new" car to you and we always want new things to be perfect.

I'm pretty sure you won't have a lot of problems with the car. I've got over 150K on my odometer now and I rarely have any issues to deal with.

Wouldn't you still be under powertrain warranty?

well its an 04... would the TB be considered powertrain? If so, then that should be covered right? Is it 5/60?

The problem is, they said they cant do Infiniti warranty stuff... and I have no clue where the closest infiniti dealer is or how I could get it there.

It's not covered. Per Infiniti's website ...

ENGINE - Cylinder heads and block and all internal parts, rocker
covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain and
tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel injectors,
intake and exhaust manifolds, flywheel, seals and gaskets.

Hmmm, guess not then. What do I know about factory warranty, my car had 99k when I bought it

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Lol, you're finally driving a good import, and the replacement of a throttle body, makes you wish you didn't buy it altogether?

Wow.

^ I don't think it has anything to do with it being an import or not, but rather a car with that few miles having that kind of problem.

The trick to making the TB last is only letting it sit in two positions: closed or completely open @ WOT

not really, it's just more fun
