as someone said, the issue is NOT whether its an import or not. I could care less. I buy a car because I like it, not because I want it to last 300,000 miles. But it is kinda rediculous for something like a throttle body to have to be replaced at 37000 miles. I know its a sensor, but why would that sensor go so early? My 97 grand am is a pos, but its tb sensor works fine lol.

The part that actually made me upset was that I only had the car a couple weeks and the dealer is screwing me. I sold cars there. I know that is why they are doing it... I NEVER stuck a customer with a repair if they only had the car two weeks. That came out of my Gross from the deal. I was just ranting.

Thanks for the support guys!

I know this might be a noob question, but how do you know when the TB goes out? Do you notice a change in the responsiveness of the throttle?

Car will die while you're driving, I believe your E brake, VDC and something else pops up on the dash. You should be able to drive it a mechanic after it dies (it'll starts again usually) but get it done as quick as possible.

yeah basically it pops on those three lights. In my case shut it down and restarted and it actually had just the SES light on and wasnt in limp mode. Really makes you wonder why its necessary if the car runs fine without it working properly...

I guess if you keep driving it supposedly the car will go into limp home mode.

Anyhow, I got her back today, 170 dollars later, shes good as new.

I'm having a similar problem, but mine won't stay running... just started today on my way home... idle got real low and rough when i would stop, then it died. when i started it up and drove it home it kinda chugged home but still had decent power... then i cleaned the tb and now it wont run. it starts and dies within a few seconds and giving it gas does nothing to keep it runnin... i only have 32k miles and a pop charge ztube and plenum spacer are my only engine mods. it seems like a lot of ppl are getting the same problem except they can still drive their car, mine wont stay runnin...

You should still be under warranty, but I'd remove those mods before taking it to a dealer. Since this appears to be intake related, the mods will give them more than enough reason to suspect they caused it and not to cover it under warranty. They'd be wrong, and legally are required to prove your mods caused it, but you'd have an uphill battle nonetheless.

The reason you get a limp mode is the reason why Nissan/Infiniti isn't on the news and Toyota is...

If the ECU detects ANY issue big or small with any part of the throttle control system from pedal to throttle body, you get limp mode. And yes, it's VERY sensitive.

Although it's probably overkill in alot of situations, it beats injuring/killing yourself and others.
