2nd Oil Consumption Engine
I think I have come to a conclusion to buying a used Cosworth Block. I just need to do my research about them.

I was thinking about selling my car all together, but I realized I love this car and I cant just get rid of something that has engolfed my life thus far.

Btw if what you mean by "dogged" is that it burned MORE oil while you drove her hard, thats all a part of the process, you must get thru that, and they will finally seal. Just keep topping her off untils she seals.
Orrrrrrr. How about they fix the problem in giving me a new engine that seals correctly from the get go. I dont speak for everyone on this forum, but I think a lot of people disagree with your answer to the OC problem. And I for one am not going to drive in my town at 4k plus rpm's and romp on it every chance I get. I appreciate the advise but I will look elsewhere for an answer.
Sorry if I sounded like an a** in that last post. Im not having a good day, and my dreams of going FI are out the window without spending a crap load of money. Atleast the weekends here and parties are of the essence.

we've had this happen a few times here where people have oil consumption on their new motors. ALWAYS take it back to the dealership to immediately begin OC testing. Do not wait. The longer you put it off, the less of a leg to stand on with the warranty you will have.
also, most dealerships will not care about the simple bolt on mods you've done, but if you are frightened, put them back to stock for peace of mind.
we do not consider intake plenums / spacers, intakes, exhausts etc as a factor when looking at OC testing. They have no relevence.
I agree. I do not want to shell out 8k for a built short block when the one I have should be perfectly fine.
I called Infiniti of Ellicott city, MD and told them that the engine is burning oil and to note when I told them. I told the guy (thats been helping me through this, the whole time) that I have had all my regular oil changes through there shop and that it didnt just happen over night. Whoever did the oil changes must have seen a decline in oil that he drained. So he told me to come in as soon as possible to start the oil Consumption test. I told him that I wouldnt be able to get into the shop until after the holidays. Which he said okay. He then proceded to ask me if I had an aftermarket air intake, which I told him no. End of call!
What the hell does an aftermarket intake have to do with piston rings not seating right. Im not an engine mechanic, but I can 100% positively tell you that the air intake has nothing, apsolutely nothing to do with the faulty piston rings in our engines.
I guess if your soooo used to replacing engines that your company knows they messed up on, and refuses to fix, then your gonna try and blame anything that you can to get out of it.
Hey Tony, what are my options as far as a new short or long block? Can they give me money for a cosworth block and no warranty, or will they give me the same useless oil burning engine thats already in it? Is there anything else I can do?

please keep us updated with this, it sucks that the second engine isnt working well, its suppose to be a 2nd gen of the original... which in some cases has turned out great but in others not so great.
