2nd Oil Consumption Engine
2nd Oil Consumption Engine
About 5 months ago, I had my VQ35DE engine replaced in my 05 6mt G coupe. I havent had a problem with the new engine until now. I had regular oil changes at my local Steelership who never said anything about how low the oil was. So I never checked the oil myself. So now my engine is out of warranty due to the miles I drive, and after 5k miles after my last oil change at the Steelership, I check it and its not showing up. The reason I checked it is because I was hearing the same things I used to (grinding noise). I think Im screwed.
1. I already installed an Mrev2, Iso spacer, and intake on the car.
2. I had my clutch replaced with a stage 3 Clutchmasters.
Soooo, even if the 2nd engine was bad and the steelership recognizes it, they will see the mods and blame it on them.
I really dont know what I should do. I was planning on Super Charging my car with a Vortech V3 setup this winter, and now im looking at building the block because of the stupid Piston Rings.
I Hope people can give me good advise. Please Help.

On a side note, I am soo sick to my stomach about this whole delema. I officially hate our engines, and the stupid Steelership for making me wait a month for my 2nd engine, and giving me on with the same damn problem.
Hey, Ive got an idea....... Fix the damn problem. How about that one Nissan....... Nah that would be too easy.

I think if you take off the Mrev2, spacer, and intake, you should be able to take the car back. Surely the new motor has a seperate warranty that would last longer then 5 months.
Just a quick question about your poll....
Why would you SC an engine that is consuming 1 quart of oil per 1k miles??
I would recommend taking the car back to the dealership to start OC testing again. Good luck.

The 1yr/12k miles warranty that came with the new engine is up. I have already put on around 15k ish. So they may not even look at it due to being out of warranty. Right now it is burning a quart per 1000 miles with just those boltons. I am planning to buy the supercharger and get around 400hp.
Will the Supercharger make the piston rings worse? Like if I have that much horsepower, will it make my Oil consumption worse, or will it still be the same. Honestly I can deal with the oil consumption problem as it stands. As long as I get an oil change every 3k miles or add oil around that time, I will be okay.
But will it get worse as time goes on?
And will it get worse with the SC on?
Oh and I cant use the money for the SC to build the engine. I want Horse power, not an N/A built engine making 300hp.

What? I plan on going with the V3 Vortech setup with the 3.12 pulley making about 400hp at about 10.5psi. Explain the theory about fixing the OC problem. What I was thinking is that it would create a boost leak in the cylinder which would rob me of Hp.
I think Im going to buy a Cosworth Shortblock. Bad thing is, I know NOTHING about building engines. Dont flame me, but if I buy the shortblock already built, can I just bolt it on to my stock Rev-up heads and get it tuned? Of course I will need Head Gaskets from Cosworth right?
God help me!

Come on people. Im seriously sick because of my dilema. The day I heard the noise come back, I was going out to dinner. I had to leave because I wanted to throw up. I need your opions.
Even though its out of warranty by a couple thousand miles, should I go back there and tell them they need to do something about it?

Okay.
Say I go back there and they say its out of warranty, and I fight them. Possibly go to court and win. So now they give me another engine. My first two were Crap, whats to say the third isnt?
Oh and on a side note, your High Flow cats look great. Too bad the bolts holding on the stockies are tighter than an ants butthole. Im gonna try to get it on a lift and heat up the bolts. Have you heard of an alternative? There rusted and not the easiest to get ahold of.

I dont think you could take it to court and win. I was thinking that if you went and just asked, maybe they would hook you up. More then likely they explained the new warranty and made you sign paperwork that said they explained it to you. If thats the case, you have no case I would imagine.
As for the bolts... Thats a tuffy. Usually if you soak em in WD for a good while and come back they come off no problem. The first time you tried, did you have it on a lift or where you under the car on jack stands? I will tell you that having it on a lift makes it a million times easier to get to them.

. It might even fix the OC
