intakes...

So I wanted to get an Injen cold air but I was asking one of my friends about it and he said that the cold air won't make much of a difference and getting a K&N filter will do the same thing.... is it worth spending the extra money to buy an intake? It does look cooler... =P

Re: intakes...

Z-Tube and K&N Panel would do just about the same as a CAI in the "G". The stock setup on our cars is great and hard to improve on. I have a K&N Typhoon and have been considering going back and getting a Z-tube and putting the stock setup back on just to see if I notice any difference.

Re: intakes...

yeah, they do look nice... but preformance does not always look pretty and visa/versa... Here is my K&N that might go buh bye for the stock set up + Z-tube and K&N panel. Time will tell.

Re: intakes...

I had the typhoon on my sedan. Took it off after only a week. There is noticable loss of torque. I dynoed with it and only put down 215 max HP, so it was not much gain if any. Maybe even a loss. I have the Z-Tube and K/N panel filter now and it is very nice and very torquey. You will not go wrong with that combo. Then wait for the APS plenum in a few months and you should have a winner.

Re: intakes...

I had the z tube + K&N dropin as well...

IMO I really noticed the difference in the first day, but since then...I don't feel any difference at all....maybe I already get used of it...
is it just me??

Re: intakes...

I just put on my Injen today on my sedan. I'll see how it is. I heard the CAI is good on high end torque.

Re: intakes...

After all the talk about aftermarket intakes actually causing a
loss of torque, I decided to replace my Stillen High Flow
Air Box with the stock box with a K&N drop in filter. I did not
notice a gain in torque or HP with the Stock box & K&N.
I did miss the wonderful sound of the Stillen. Mind you that
the Z tube was still on. After a week or so, I missed the Stillen
so much that I put it back on. God I love the Stillen coupled
with the Z tube!!!!!

Re: intakes...

I have been really paying attention the last couple of days since this post came up to my Typhoon and Torque... I think what the biggest difference is is that there is not as much restriction and more air is flowing in. It does not feel as "tight" in the lower RPMs but my car has KICK down low with this CAI, and when I floor it at 40-40 mph, watch out it moves. I had a Vette next to me near Thunderbird and Tatum today and we played a bit. Yeah I know he can kick my butt but he really didn't pull on me till about 75 or so then he started to take off. A Jag joined into the fun but traffic precluded us from stretching our legs past 100... Then we shut it down and drove sane.

Just my observations, but I like the Typhoon.
