real electric supercharger?
real electric supercharger?
Is there such thing as a real electric supercharger? There are alot of ebay ones which sell for $30+ and I looked at some of the seller's feedbacks and it looked like most people were satisfied about what they bought. I also googled Electric Supercharger and found this supercharger selling for $199. How would I know which one works and which one doesn't?
Thanks
Thanks
Hey bro,
I think they are Really Real. My friend put one on his car and got 100hp from it. You should try it out and write a review for us.

Yes there is but NOT at 200 bucks, see below
Like I said, there are real ESC (Electric SuperChargers) from a company called "Thomas Knight" and there are also reviews. But the catch is the price (around 1695$) and the duration of each boost (around 15 sec). To me, it should be looked at more like nitrous than a real SC but I'll let you be the judges.

Electrical superchargers are definitely real and can be built.
However, the problem lies in how much electric power is required to turn a turbine system in an automobile.
Its also a matter of efficiency. You can drive a supercharger mechanically with a belt, or with an electrical supercharger, you have to drive an alternator to develop the power, provide large amounts of battery storage (lots of weight), and then drive another motor which will power your turbine.
Its not very practical.

There was a guy this past weekend on Pass Time with one of these in his 350Z, he ran a high 15 second 1/4mile, this thing must of slowed down his airflow let alone increase it, wasn't impressed at all.
