Kinetix Plenum

Does anyone happen to know of retailers offering the Kinetix Plenum at a discounted price? Kinetix Racing is now offering it at $399 but I was hoping I might be able to save a few bucks through someone else. Thanks!

Re: Kinetix Plenum

While we're at it, are there any other particular brands of Plenum's that you guys like or happen to have on your G's? I've heard good things about the Kinteix and it seems a lot easier to mount plus it does not require a core exchange. Yet on the other hand, I know Crawford and Strictly Z offer Plenum's for a little bit more yet a core exchange is involved. Let me know what you think, your advice is definitely appreciated!

Re: Kinetix Plenum

I too am looking forward to a plenum replacement. I know there were some issues with the Kinetix cracking and it is a plastic plenum. The Crawford plenum is the most popular so far and is a modified stock version. Some feel it is a bit ugly (do a search in tech and mods forum to find the thread). I have not heard anything so far about the Strictly Z offering, but it looks like an attractive piece. Perhaps someone has some more info? The part I am looking forward to seeing is the ofering from APS out of Australia. It is a cast aluminum "tall boy" plenum developed for the 350z and will be available in November (hopefully sooner).
With all the aftermarket plenums, you will have to deal with issues with the fit and finish of your stock engine cover. I would really like to find a way to replace my cover after the plenum upgrade, or possibly find a way to swap with a 350 cover which is cutaway around the plenum.
Does anyone else have some insight for us?
Chris

Re: Kinetix Plenum

Crawford is sold by StrictlyZ. They just have an old photo of a passed version of the Crawford Plenum on their website.

Crawford does not look bad, especially if you have one powder coated.

The ONLY problem I've ever heard of with Crawford is that they have shipped out plenums that are slightly warped (poor tooling set ups during fabrication). Any way, if you buy a Crawford plenum just lay it on a flat surface (kitchen table) and look to see if there are any appreciable gaps beneath the plenum. If not, install it. If so, send it back and ask for another one.

The crawford and kinetix are the same to install. Neither one is any easier than the other...

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: Kinetix Plenum

I have Kinetix v2 with a Z engine cover. It looks nice and sounds OK.. I think I may have lost some torque with the plenum and the Stillen air box/z tube combo but there is more pull at higher rpms..(Seemingly anyway)

Re: Kinetix Plenum

There are no issues with the Kinetix plenums cracking. The problems they had were with the earlier vesions. Those versions are long gone and have been replaced by version 4.

Re: Kinetix Plenum

The APS plenum does look hopeful. It looks pretty good too. Let's just hope that APS gets on the ball and offers a "high-rise strut-tower brace" that's required to go along with it. It would suck to have to wait around for someone to make a brace that could accomodate this plenum... ...if there isn't already one on the market.

Re: Kinetix Plenum

Crawford used to sold by StricklyZ, but is not anymore. Crawford is sold by CrawfordZCar at http://crawfordzcar.com/. Get the phone number there, and talk to Doug Stewart, a great guy. The Crawford plenum kicks a$$.

Re: Kinetix Plenum

I think the APS looks pretty promising as well. Don't sweat the strut brace, though, unless you've got a 350Z. They don't exist on our Gs, so aren't required for the APS plenum.
