argh, recall notice for oem radiator fans sent to late!

I had this problem with my radiator fan but got it fixed at a local shop because the dealership is a rip off. And last month they finally sent me a notice saying that i have a recall for a defective radiator fan which I already got fixed! Arghhh... am I able to get reimbursed for this or do I have to get it fixed by an authorized dealer to get a refund? I am so pissed right now.

If they would have sent it earlier. Sigh. Stupid Infinity.

You can show them the reciept and they will give you a refund. At least that's how VW did it.

Agreed. They should have it on file. Nothing worth doing is easy. You deserve a refund.

Sorry to bring old thread back....but I didn't anything like that in the mail, and my radiator fan isn't working aswell, and almost overheated in traffic the other day! Can I just ask my stealership if they can fix it? My warranty on everything is gone already, so does a recall still let me get it fixed for free?

Yes you can. It is a recall. I don't think there is a milage limit to it. You get one free fix.

^ Incorrect. There is a millage limit on the Radiator Fan motor... It wasn't a Recall letter, just a Warranty Notification on the Fan.

The letter states:

New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage for your vehicle's Radiator Fan Motor from its original duration of 48 months / 60,000 has been extended to 96 months / 100,000 miles. (whichever comes first).

If you have previously paid to have your fan motor replaced do to failure, you may be eligible for reimbursement for the expense for parts and labor you have incurred.

Ah, well I bought it used, with no warranty because I was pretty confident in the build quality of Infiniti....and mine's an '04, with 47k miles, so am I still covered?

Doesn't matter. If it's an 04 Coupe, you're covered. You can even print a copy of that letter if they want to argue it with you (although they shouldn't). You should be fine.

You will have to deal with Infiniti Consumer Affairs though, I believe. I don't think the dealer can reimburse you.

It's the factory warranty... you're covered whether you bought used or new.

Ah, so I get it fixed there, then get contacted by Infiniti Consumer Affairs to get reimbursed?

my friends 05 coupe heated up last night, i checked and the radiator fan was not coming on causing the temps to rise, now he got this car used @40k and has 62k on it now, i knew about this issue and told him but he said he never received that warranty extension letter.

Should he just contact the dealership and tell them that fan has died and he received a letter for the warranty extension? or is this unnecessary to tell them about the letter?

He probably hadn't been to the dealer to update their contact information for the car since he bought it. The first time you go to the dealer they will change the name, address, phone number, etc tied to the car to reflect the new owner. That's where the letter would have been sent. You could print out the letter above, or go to the Infiniti website where you can request any recall or warranty extension campaigns for your vehicle or contact Infiniti Consumer Affairs to get a copy of that letter sent out to you.

To be honest, though, if the dealer even questions it I'd be surprised. They should be able to just punch in your friend's VIN and see if it applies.
