Any one looked at the new hood? Do you think it's worth to spend 400 dollars more for the new hood? The picture of the blue car has the new hood. Can someone please explain to me the difference between these two hoods?

"The new STILLEN hood for the G35 provides a unique style and affords the necessary engine bay clearance for our new twin screw supercharger. Made of fiberglass, this hood comes ready for final prep and painting. Uses stock hardware for mounting. Due to the size of the hood, this will not ship via UPS or FedEx. Shipping is by truck line only. Call for shipping estimates to your location. Also available in carbonfiber, see part #1036007C. "

It appears that one is fiberglass with paint and the other is carbon fiber with paint and clearcoat.

Quote: Yeah, sucks thats to only FI kit that is carb approved. No way around that freakin hood. Oh well, HKS and JWT for G35 is coming around the corner and is carb certified. I called Vortech, and they said maybe approved in 6 months. The guy didnt sound promising.
I think the Vortech has CARB approval now. It is listed on their website.

Stillen is still the only CARB Legal supercharger for CALIFORNIA.

Quote from the Vortech website. Maybe they haven't updated their website yet?:
"Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used upon a highway..."

1. Is this only for manuals? I ask this cuz that's what their website says.

2. Is this louder than the Stillen Supercharger? I was told the Vortech supercharger is louder and it's not considered a bolt on item cuz it requires tuning and other parts to be used as a daily driver.

3. It seems like everyone agrees that the Vortech supercharger produces more peak power than Stillen, but doesn't Stillen have more usuable power? I read in a magazine where they raced 350Z's that had different type of FI systems on them and the Stillen was the fastest, but ugliest and most expensive. (I got a quote from Stillen and a Nissan dealership for parts and installation and both quotes came out to $8,000 for the stillen system!)

So are all of you with the stage 2 or 3 Stillen Sc happy? That hood is holding me back too... if it was cheaper or a major discount offered to Sc buyers at purchase id consider the purchase... but for now Im looking at other means of pressurizing my car.... even a single turbo under the stock hood. its a huge toss up. Why didn't they even raise the hood from center to edges gradually ... this might of even accented the beautiful fender lines of this gorgeous car. maybe im wrong but i guess stillen dosnt care and they know that have a great SC set up... take it or leave it. id say they are losing alot of money..... 5500 to shell out and on top of it another 900 for hood, shipping . installing and painting I just don't know. Sigh.....
