Taller oil filter..

So I was at nissan buying a new oil filter.. Then I came up with the idea of buying a G37 filter or 370z filter because they're probably taller.. I ask the service guy and he told me that they are taller but probably not worth paying a littler bit more because you'll only get about a centimeter taller.

Just wondering if anyone else is running a taller filter of some sort? I'd really like to do this to get more oil capacity.. I know an oilpan spacer helps but I'd rather keep mine more stronger structuraly than to add a spacer and risk it leaking.

I used to own a V6 Acura Legend and we would all use NSX filters because they were almost double the size.

i use mobile 1 oil filters and if you look up the filter size in the book it says to use m-102 (05 g35c) but instead i use m-110. its a lot taller than the m-102 but the circumference and diameter are the same.

You of all people ask a noob question??? Now that's funny. I'm surprised you haven't read one of the million threads that discusses this. Because I feel for you through your experience with the SBF ( ha, not really ) I will point you in the direction of a few.

Happy reading!

The 370 and g37 filters arent that much bigger. How much more oil capacity do you expect? 6-8 tablespoons maybe

Just use an M45 filter. The G35 and G37 actually use the same filter (per Wix website), while the 370Z uses a slightly taller filter (0.2 inches). The M45 filter is almost an inch taller than the G35/37, with identical filtering capability. All 4 have virtually the same specs, but the M45 has more media to collect it in.

The larger one is the same filter as the titan too...that's how I looked it up originally.
