Does anyone know if the factory engine oil is synthetic or not? I just had my first oil change done at the dealer at no charge. After the change I asked the tech what brand of oil they use and he told me Mobil-1. Do any of you know if your dealer uses Mobil-1? I had just assumed it was some cheap dino oil... I didn't want to go synthetic until 12k miles, either way though I'm going to have it changed every 3.0-3.5k miles.

 

Eldy this is wrong, the dealer doesnt use Mobil-1. And infact its not synthetic. They use regular 10W30 (i think thats the weight) penzoil motor oil. You can call and ask the dealership. This is what they told me before i went to Willow Springs and had my car all checked out before that track day.

I was at the dealership and one of the shop guys there told me it was Mobil-1. Either way it's alright... I just needed to put something down for the Blackstone oil analysis.

 

fyi, 5w30 is what comes with the car.

Are you sure mobil1? I called my sevice guy today he said penzoil, then i called the dealership out in thousdand oaks and they said the same thing.

when i had my first oil change, they put a mobil sticker on the windshield. service rep recommended to get the next oil change after 4 or 5000 miles, so i was under the impression that it might be synthetic oil too.

When I brought in my own Castrol synthetic blend oil for
an oil change, my service rep told me that that is what they
use when they change the oil. I think all the dealers use
different brands, depending upon the best deal they can
get. They are all liers! Don't believe much of what they say.

my service department uses "nissan recommended factory oil" they wouldn't elaborate on the brand, I think it is penzoil NON-synthetic.

They will allow me to bring in my own Mobil 1 Synthetic (which I got from Costco)....
