RacePipes+DC Headers=Damaged Headers?
RacePipes+DC Headers=Damaged Headers?
Good evening guys:
I received a set of DC NHS4201 headers today for my G35 Copue 6MT and upon reading the directions, it states that the removal of the CATS or use of race pipes, will void my warranty and damage the headers.
Can you guys confirm this? Right now I am running the Stillen race pipes and I cannot see how in the hell they would damage the headers or even void the warranty...

Re: RacePipes+DC Headers=Damaged Headers?
it would void your factory warranty since you are tampering with the emissions system by removing the cats.
I don't see how it would damage the headers thou, afterall it's just a bunch of pipes. the only possible thing I can think of is that if you use a race pipe without the bracket that ties into the factory brace you could be putting some additional stress on the welds and flange and this might fail. But if the race pipe has the welded on mounting bracket in the middle then the weight will be supported.

Re: RacePipes+DC Headers=Damaged Headers?
They are just looking out for themselves, because many afermarket parts the replaces the oem cats don't exactly mate up 100% exact. In somecases it cause just enough additional stress and over time and extreme heat cycles ... they could eventually crack. Exhausts which do not have the 'flex joints' are especially bad in this regard.

I heard that it was illegal to sell a car that does not have stock cats on. Is this true?

Thank you for your replies. Yes, I thought it was odd when the manual stated that. My Stillen race pipes are direct fitted replacements for the OE cats. Therefore, I could not see how this would pose a problem. I have scheduled the DC stainless header install with Infiniti for next Friday. Hopefully, this adds some juice with my stillen exhaust and race pipes.

You can be held liable to return the emissions to oem condition.............even if it was found out 7 years later.......of course proving who did what may be a problem.
Washing the title through a dealer [trade in] makes the dealer more responsible [the dealer is an expert and they are supposed to check before they accept the car BACK.............But some states still give them 90-180 days to come back at you if they find something modified at a later date.
Private sales are more problematic as you are certifying the car ........AS IS doesn't apply to Federal emission tampering!
Always keep your oem take off parts you will need them to restore! Or at least to give to buyer with a signed receipt.
