How to spot a rev up engine *PICS*

Ok guys....after doing my research and alot of looking, I finally had the chance to view these two cars sitting next to each other. And i got pics this time to prove it.
The Rev up motor with 298hp has variable cam timing on the exhaust side as well as the intake side. The non-rev up motor with 280hp only has it on the intake side. So to put this to rest once and for all....here is the easiest way to tell.

A much easier way is to know whether you are driving an 05-07 Coupe 6MT or 05-06 Sedan 6MT.

Btw....as a side note. I also learned that the rev up motor only came in the 05-07 G35 w/6spd mt, and the anniversary edition 350Z. So for those of us that were lucky/un-lucky (depending on how you feel about it) enough to get one with this engine, its actually kinda rare.

Also in the 06 350Z with 6MT.

For guys that don't know much about cars, I think it's easier for them to distinguish revups vs. non-revups by transmission and year....

All 5ATs - non-revup
03-04 6MTs - non-revup
05-07 6MTs - revup

^ Yep

There is no easier way. But if you were to look at a car in person thats good way.

Well a lot of people are changing their headlights and taillights in their 05 and down G35s, so it's a little hard to distinguish what year each G35 is now. So, just from looking at an outside of a G35 coupe, you have to somewhat guess now.

Very informative and good post.

Take a look inside - done.

If you have a 6MT w/ brushed aluminum interior - revup.

If you have a 6MT with black or silver/gray interior - non-revup.

If you have a 5AT - non-revup.

Good post... it's not always the case where you know what car it came from. What if you're doing a swap or picking up a junkyard engine and don't want to take the word of the junkyard guy? Pics in this thread FTW.

True. But I was referring to only if you could only see the outside of the car.

Speaking of the interior, on the dash, it says REV right in the middle. That is revup engine specific correct?

I will give you that the intirior did change with the year models...but i agree, Alot more people are swapping parts from other year model. I even plan on putting 06 headlights, and 04 brembo brakes on my 05. I wont debate the year model + trans method. Just saying that this give definitive proof....The engine cant lie....and im sorry but popping the hood takes 2 seconds.
