Knocking from engine/transmission area?
Hi all,
I tried searching for clues as to what this would be, but wasn't successful.
I have a 05 6MT with 82K km on the clock. This started happening about a month ago when I was driving. There is a knocking sound (almost like a diesel engine) at low RPMs when I shift between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears and it goes away when I'm into the higher gears and rev ranges.
- the rattle is also present after long drives and I park the car running, I will hear a rattling sound from underneath the driver/transmission area.
The oil is due for a change soon - about another 1K km before it's required to be changed. The oil levels are at or around full (last I checked)
Any ideas what this knocking and rattling could be?
Thanks for your time and expertise

3 different places...
all under 35.00
But the service/labor is where it's at.
The transmission needs to be dropped. and 8 times out of 10 you should replace the clutch while you're at it (that way you avoid the charge for dropping the transmission twice).
