Exclamation J-Matic Vs S-Matic, The truth behind the counter.

Hello Everyone.

Today i have decided to go and pick up some ATF at my local INFINITEY dealer. Came to the counter and asked for a S-Matic Transmision fluid. Guy asked me if i use J-Matic or S-matic....ofcourse i said that the manual calles out for J and hes answer was " well we carry only S-matic and you could directly mix it with you old fluid, BUT recelnty our main tech told us that you should not sell S for J" mind you that i have been going there for a while and they all know me by my name and i do get nice disscoounts...But anyway.. Turns out that Nissan might have issues with S-Matic in J-matic trasmissions...Well guys you are the experts here and all, tell me what can it be that NISSAN is bringign the j back to life...????hmmm...??? BTW (whole case $6.99 a bottle of J)

Please post your comments

As far as i know, Infiniti replaced the J matic with S matic fluids so as they say it's ok to use it since they don't sell/make the j matic anymore.

I purchased "S" Matic from the local Infiniti Dealership last week. The parts rep at Infiniti told me that "J" fluid is not available and they use "S" matic fluid as replacement.

I would assume that it has been awhile. When I got serviced at 90k about 2 years ago Nissan told me they replaced J-Matic with S-Matic, and I'm at 117k right now and no problems at all

Kinda weird. I had my transmission fluid changed back in June of this year, and the paperwork says they used J-Matic.
