Greddy catch can install

This is not the right catch that fits in the middle of the timing cover but I am using it now because the car needs it (oil gets in the upper and lower plenum). I'll use this same catch can later as a coolant overflow tank when I get a second catch can that fits in the middle of the timing cover.

This is the one that fits in the middle of the timing cover:

This is what I have:

This is the proper setup. One catch can is an overflow tank for coolant and one is an oil catch can. Picture courtesy of XKR@G35Driver and my350z running 1000+ whp DJ with an open deck VQ35 stroked to 4L.

Would this fit with the OEM engine cover on?

Absolutely not. It can hardly clear the VTC cover and the hood.

UPDATE

The catch can has been catching about 4-6 fl.oz of oil every 2 months or so. Today I will remove the upper and lower plenum for another project and will look for any oil that might have gone in since replacing the valve covers.

I took it apart and did not find anymore oil puddles. Just some oil vapor here and there.

UPDATE

This piece of **** catch can caused a vacuum leak on my car, not leaking anymore right now. Turns out the oil level reading plastic pieces were loose. Leak sounded like a hissing noise which I thought was normal.

Today I will go find NTP plugs to get rid of that and plug the holes.

This is how I fixed it. I also changed the Greddy hoses out because they got dried up and got brittle.

I have another update.

I router the driver side valve cover to the catch can. I could still smell oil and gas vapor and this will fix that problem.

That setup did not work and caused a vacuum leak. I just caught on to it today because it was a very small leak and the RPM was still somewhat steady dropping and raising only slightly but at very long intervals.

The driver side valve cover is venting under the car now.
