Clutch fluid...
Clutch fluid...
During last week when it was really hot, my clutch pedal started to get stuck half way. I read online about how people changed their clutch line to stainless braided ones and bled the fluids and put in DOT 4. So I plan to try that out because my car needs maintenance done anyways. Any recommended DOT4 brands? Or should i just buy any kind of DOT4 from a local store like kragens, autozone, etc?
Also is it called clutch fluid or is it called brake fluid? because i know some people tell me it's the same thing.
And what kind of stainless braided clutch lines do you guys recommend? and where to buy?
Thanks!

It will be called brake fluid. Any name brand DOT3 or DOT4 (sometimes called DOT3/4) will be better than the contaminated fluid you have in there now. A couple of the high performance brands would be Motul or ATE Super Blue, but you usually will only find those online or a performance shop. DOT5.1 has even better specs, but stay far away from DOT5.

Fluid is the 1st thing to check.
I wouldn't worry about the SS line too much though.
I would keep the same fluid spec as you use for your brakes.
This could also be an indication that the slave unit is going.

i'm just hoping it isn' the slave or master cyclinder... or pressure plate.
i just read around that in high temps that this is a common problem with the pedal. Normally my clutch is completely fine until i'm in traffic for a long time and just recently, it happened in almost 100 degree weather. So i figure i'd change the SS lines and fluids.
Supposely it helps. If i were to just bleed the fluid and replace with Dot4 without replacing the lines to SS lines... would it help? especially for high temps or too much clutching in n out.
