Exclamation Octane Boost

I did a search and did not find anything helpful. What are the pro's and cons of using Octane Boost additives to 91 Octane Fuel? My car ran like azz when I had to put 5 gallons of 87 to get home. I live in CA and 91 is as high as we go. Will it really help keep our fuel systems clean?

Go get a little bit of race gas instead. Same thing but cheaper per quantity.

All those little 4oz bottle of octane boost are rip offs. If you want to boost octane on the cheap use 2-4 gallons of Xylene in your tank and top off with premium gas.

I've run Xylene in NA and turbocharged vehicles for several years. Works fantastic and keeps the entire fuel system clean as a whistle.

from what i heard cali banned race gas in street cars....its actually illegal to sell now unless at a track and you have to fill out a form and submit it along with amounts to the gov.

I use the lucas fuel injector cleaner. It actually does help on older or higher milage vehicles you dont need it every fill though.

Really? That sucks. I used to buy race gas for my Ducati at a local moto shop. I just liked the way it smells.
