I have an 04 coupe 5at non sport package. I have been under the impression I don't have a LSD until last week when I burned out the last of my tires before putting on new rims and tires. I was expecting a one wheel burn out but that wasn't the case. How can I find out for sure?

just because you didn't do a one wheel burn out doesn't mean you dont have an open diff

if you jack up your rear, with the transmission in neutral and spin one wheel, and the other spins as well. you have a VLSD.

at least that's how you check on other nissan vehicles.

I believe only the sport models have the VLSD.

^No, sport models have them too. I have an 06 5AT w/sport package which comes with the 3.5fd VLSD.

^They don't have the "S" on them like the actual sport models, but some came with a sport package. Package included stiffer suspension, VLSD, different front bumper and sides, aluminum pedals, 19" rays(?)...thats all I could think of.

03/04 5AT sedans do not have VLSD, regardless if it's a Sport model

05/06 5AT sedans with Sport to have VSLD

My 03 5AT with an open diff rarely peg-legged on a launch. If the surface was dry, it would lay down two, nearly identical, strips of rubber on a launch. On slower (40mph or less) off-camber turns is where it would peg-leg the most. I've now got the 3.5 VLSD swap and car does absolutely no peg-legging whether going straight or turning. Laying into the gas in a turn now results in much more grip and less fish tailing and no peg-legging. One thing I've noticed on launch is that if the tires spin, the both tires spin uniformly causing the rear end to instantly step out mildly to the right. It's something the car never did prior to the VLSD.

Are you reffering to the FD ratio? I'm about to head to a dealership so I'll get the answer.

yes, fd i think in all 06 coupes is 3.5:1. however, i believe in 04, the autos had 3.3 gears and the manuals had the 3.5 gears
