how to change my coolant fluid

So i got a call from my dealer telling me i need to change my coolant fluid.

i'm about to hit 90k miles and wonder if i need to do a flush or not. Also, is there a DIY?

I know you just need to go under the radiator and find the ****, usually looks like a butterfly **** correct? Then drain it and then fill the radiator cap and the resevoir.

simple enough right?

There is a great DIY video on this.

I'm still not sure if using the rad drain + using the engine bolt to drain the coolant is necessary for regular interval changes. With 90k miles and the possibility of it never being changed before though, I would flush it and drain from both the rad and the engine. Just my opinion.

I'm in the middle of changing my coolant right now. I'm using the steps from the service manual, which is the same as the steps in the video on infintihelp. I'm also flushing the system, which is not in the video, but is in the service manual. Basically after draining the original coolant I fill it the system with distilled water and drain until the water comes out clear. After the first time draining the water that I just put in, what came out was still quite dark. Also I was only able to put about 6qts in and the system system (not counting the reservoir) takes about 8qts. In other words, there was still about 2 qts of the old coolant in there after the first drain.

Tips:
1. The radiator drain plug and air relief plug are identical. I changed the o-ring on both, but the old ones looked good. Part#21481-89900

2. When refilling the radiator, pour at less than half-gallon per minute to reduce amount of air in the system (that comes from the manual).

3. My radiator cap overflowed before the air relief opening. By squeezing the upper radiator hose a few times I was able to get the coolant to come out the air relief hose as well as some air bubbles out the top of the radiator.

4. The car's outside temp reads 97°, so I'm not sure how well I'm purging the coolant that goes through the heater core. Maybe cooler weather would be a better time to change coolant.
