Re: Side Marker Mod & Warranty problem (from FA)

This happened to me 6 weeks ago. I took my coupe in because the MIL was on for 3 days straight and my nav was reporting extremely low gas mileage (6-10 mpg). They said the headlight mod and my subwoofer were the cause. The tech tried to make it look like I completely rewired my car. He noted that the there were numerous non-authorized modifications, that the fogs didn't work, nor did the brights...etc. Guess the dipshit didn't notice that I didn't have any bulbs in there (removed them in anticipation of new ones arriving soon). Furthermore the ***** left the metal probe in the headlight harness and forgot to retreive it before I picked it up. Anyway, even though they said that there was no factory malfunction and I picked up my car w/o them fixing anything (wasn't paying $100/hr for that tech) miraculously the MIL was fixed when I picked up my car and mileage returned to normal. They won't even admit there was a problem with the fuel sensor.

My car is actually at the dealer again for the other fuel sensor and new carpeting (4" rip in mine somehow). They noticed the NAV mod (why they were looking behind my glove box, I don't know) so I can program while driving and "there goes your warranty on the NAV unit." He later went on to say "my boss said he isn't going to service your car anymore because all the wiring you've done." My mods include the blinkers, navi, cai, sway bars, and subwoofer. Load of crap. Might as well just lemon law in now. Afterall, they've had it for 38+ days so far (all for warranty work) well above the 30 day threshold for the lemon law in my state.

Gosh that is a load of crud! Do dealer not realize so long they can justify work under warranty, they are ahead of the game in both customer service and pay from Infiniti (for the work).

The notion that such the NAV mod and blinker mod voids the warranty is ridiculous. If one really were hard pressed, they could sue and win ... although it might not be worth the time and effort. I'd suggest moving on to another dealer and in the mean time let all local know that particular dealer should be avoided. Do these people not realize internet forum exists for this very reason? Unbelievable!

Good luck,

Clint (THX723)

Re: Side Marker Mod & Warranty problem (from FA)

Well it happened to me tonight, vdc, slip, and check engine light came on along with a loss of power. Switched it back to the way it was, and pulled off the negative battery terminal for awhile. Will this reset the computer?

Thanks

I am brand spanking new to this forum and happy to be here! I have been very interested in this mod. Just 3 days ago I was nearly creamed on my drivers side beacause this stupid driver said I didn't have my signal on. I did some checking and found out that Infinity decided not to make safety their 1st concern. The signals cannot be seen from the side whatsoever! First no DRL's now this. I guess this is what i get for $39,500.

Hmmmm

Interesting fact , I recall someone saying that they noticed their third brake(spoiler mounted) light flashing (quickly) when unlocking the doors via the remote , They noticed this after the side marker mod was installed but it's not to say that it wasn't happening before that , soooooo the other day I unlock my car at night and guess what my third brake light also flashed upon unlocking the doors via the remote , Now I do have the blinker mod and am using a Viper 791xv aftermarket alarm but this did make me do alot of thinking about the bcm and adverse effects to the electrical system, I will have to do some research and try to find an answer to this as it's killing me to know why this happens.
