Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

There is power in numbers. I am currently working to get an aluminum 2-row aftermarket radiator produced for the G35.

There are approximately 6 aftermarket radiators avail for the 350z 6MT, and none for the 350z AT or G35's (that we can find).

So, with the numbers below, I want to prove there is an interest/need for this product, and then perhaps get a group buy going. So if you are interested, please add your name to the official "I want an aftermarket radiator" list. Signing up does not mean you are committing to a purchase, just that you would want this product if it were produced. FYI - most aftermarket radiators retail in the range of $399 to $699.

I'm really surprised that this thread was not titled...

"Let's talk aftermarket radiators", ...sorry, I digress.

What are the benefits of having an aftermarket radiator?

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

Aluminum dissipates heat better with wider tubes, more contact area (tube to fin), more coolant capacity, and better air flow.

just about every race car uses an aluminum radiator.

overall benefit.... a cooler engine keeps the heat from robbing your HP.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

Ones I have seen for 350z appear much thicker (but still lighter) than stock. May be a tight fit in our cars. But if it can be done I am all for it.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

Would the aftermarket radiator fit with a Greddy intercooler ?

If it does and the price is right then count me in for my 5AT coupe.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

another suggestion, to save costs you could plug up the AT cooler up cause I did that on my 240sx.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

OK - here is some more info....

The new direct replacement radiator will be:
All Aluminum
2 row,
1" tube
2 1/4" core
3" tank
and be rated at 400hp N.A.

He does not recommend a 3row, as there would not be enough airflow.

He also stated that they will create the direct replacement first, then they can use that to mod it for your aftercooler requirements.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

I bought a 350z Koyo radiator for $350 and had it modified to fit in our G35. I had to have the two top nipples cut off, moved and re-tig welded in place. The rest of it fits perfect. It wasn't that much work at all. Price for the modifying was $50.

Or plug it and add a tranny cooler to bypass the radiator.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

Then that would be for a G35 6MT... not a 5AT.

Nobody makes a 5AT radiator... yet. if you installed that on an 5AT, you eliminated your tranny cooler.

Re: Official "I want an aftermarket radiator" thread

P.S. we're working on a direct replacement, plug and play. The average G is looking for bolt-ons, not altering a prodcution unit. I am also curious if Koyo will still warranty your radiator after the alterations?

Not really, a lot of tranny coolers do the same thing as the radiator does. Takes fluid into your radiator then back out. You could mount a tranny cooler to the radiator. Like or

Ted - Even though I don't have any cooling problems now ( even down here in Louisiana ), a better radiator will help handle additional heat generated by my upcoming S/C so count me in.
BTW - whatever happened to our group buy on the Pi-Thon clamps for the Samco hoses?
