I unbolted the cap to check the fluid and no stick was attached WTF? Could it have fallen in?

 

Some of the early models didnt have a stick.

 

i have an extra one still in the plastic if you need..

I think ONLY the 03-05 do not have dipsticks . my mechanic at INFINITI of tustin said that you have to take your early model G to the dealers to get it checked out, they have the dipstick. BS i think it is how they make us go to them to check our levels out.

 

I have an 05 and I've got a dipstick.

 

I was told that initially, Nissan decided to omit the actual dipstick as they feared that consumers would check their own fluids and top up with non-Nissan approved fluid. They had many issues of transmission failures when even minimal amounts of non-J-matic fluid was mixed in.

 

I have an 04 coupe, it has a dipstick.
