for the severe maintenance schedule, what exactly defines frequent short trips?

on weekends, if i'm running errands i'll do a few trips that are like 5-10 minutes, but most of my city driving and local commute is 15-20 minutes.

or would frequent short trips be like a mailman?

Yeah that part in the manual is a little confusing. I normally drive on the highways but sometimes take some short trips, so i make my own maintanance schedule, one that is just about inbetween the 2 that they list in the manual

Honestly?
It's like everyday driving.

Unless you drive LONG hwy miles all the time, every day, you are considered servere type driving. That way they can advertise cheap & infrequent maintainance. It's all marketing BS.
BTW: I know a service tech that has advised me of this AND most service managers tell me exactly the same.

less than about 5 miles....where the engine does not reach full operating temperature and/or is not in the operating temperature for very long. The condensed water vapor mixed with other crap makes the oil acidic and will wear on the engine parts faster.
