2008 G35, Auto, Premium. 75K miles with mostly So Cal highway miles.

Upon deceleration it will just quietly stall out. Like at the end of a freeway off ramp. Problem is intermittent. Sometimes just idles down rough and recovers without stalling out. It often feels kind of numb when decelerating, almost like it is the momentum that is keeping the engine running, like a push start. When it does die, it starts up no problem and goes on.

Had a diagnosis done, no codes. Maintenance so far has been routine at what I believe to be a good local lube and tune. Dealer is super spendy and a hassle to get into.

Up until today there was not consistency to it. Now when in Park, if I run the engine at steady 2000 RPM for 10-20 seconds then release the accelorator it stalls out.

I figure it is likely a sensor, but without throwing codes, how do I deal with it?

Any help or thoughts are appreaciated.

 

has the IAVL been performed lately? if not, try that. ive replaced the front covers on the timing cover to fix a few cars with that problem. mainly due to lack of maintenance=10k mile oil changes and such, but it still seems to be a somewhat common problem with the HR motor. not a cheap fix tho unfortunately but I can vouch that ive fixed a couple 08 sedans with that same problem.

 

i also run into same problem when i put mine in neutrul coasting. it only happens like once a month though and like you said no codes or anything.
