03 coupe AT will get beat by a 03.5 sedan 6mt.

According to the specs in the infiniti website, the curb weights for the 6MT sedan and coupe are the same...

Strengthened internals to handle a new 7000 rpm redline. The torque goes down to 260 ft/lbs though for the coupe.

Re: 2005 HP increase for 6-MT

Then...both the sedan and the coupe will have the 260lb-ft torque peak and the higher 298hp peak. That means higher revs for that new hp peak. Interesting. I would prefer the higher and flatter torque curve for 99% of my driving. So far, I'm still happy with my coupe!

Re: 2005 HP increase for 6-MT

Can someone expand on the strengthened internals claim? I have an 05 6MT sedan on order, and I'm a boost junkie. Are the pistons/rods beefed up at all, or just the valvetrain?

I'll eventually want to supercharge this car . . .

yeah im with Jellyneck on this one, i'd rather have the 270 torque peak rather than 260 with higher redline

Re: 2005 HP increase for 6-MT

If you are looking for a flatter torque curve, I'm sure the upper end of the 298 HP VQ will be flatter. Without dynos, it's hard to speculate about what happens before the torque peak, but keep in mind the reason Variable cam timing and it;s many variants are used in the first place is to flatten out the torque curve. With the new motor's variable exhaust cam timing, it would be likely the torque curve is flatter overall.
