hurt cam. lifter or both
cliff notes at bottom
so i was going to work on the g this weekend to repplace a leaking y pipe to mid pipe gasket. i drove the car up on ramp and sprayed it with pb blaster. this is saturday morn.
well then i started to clean the garage with the help of my lovely wife and we were makin good progress so i figured lets run to town in wifeys suv and buy some shelving. needless to say that ate up the rest of my day so no g lovin.
sunday. same thing workin on the garage. didnt touch the g till about 9 oclock and then didnt really feel like fighting the damn rusted bolts so i left her alone. again she sits up on the ramps another nite.
so here we are 44 hours later and my baby has ben sitting on the ramps. didnt think nothing of it at 6am when i hoped in to go to work. hell shes sat on jackstands for a day or so for the test pipe install last weekend.
crank her up and she starts knockin like ****in crazy. so i turn her off instantly. try agian same thing. im thinkin wtf and my feelings are really hurt. so i push her off the ramps and let her sit for a few minutes and then give her another try. again same thing but i said f it and let her run for about 30 seconds and it quites down some. then after about 5 minutes it almost goes away so im like screw it i gotta go to work and hop in and ease it out the drive way. then it comes back lightly. i stop at the curb store about a mile down the road to listen and its gone. yay i think. so i take it really easy to work and tell my boss why im late.
oh yea forgot to mention i checked the oil after it sat for about 5 minutes and it was fine. i just changed the oil last week to synthetic 5 30 valvoline.
so the oil is fin cuz i checked it at first break at work as well as crunk hte car up and noise was goin.
well time togo home istart the car and my leadman is standing there and is like i dont here anything. haha. he goes to get in his truck and drives off and i get back in the g and tap the throttle and be damned there it is.
sounds like it is coming from cylinder one.
i get home and pull out the trusty wooden broomstick and begin to listen to motor.
well cylinder 2 has a nice smooth tick where as cylinder one u dont even have to put ur ear to the stick to hear the loud tick tick tick.
so this weekend im pullin the valve cover on that side seeing as i wont have time this week.
friend of mine says it could have thrown the shim and worst that could happen is gouging the lobe.
so wat do u guys think.
ps im really sad. lol
cliff notes: car was on ramps for 2 days and now has a horrible tick on cylinder one.
