Clutch Replacement
Couple questions on clutch replacement...I have a 2004 g35 Coupe with 72000 miles and noticed a little slipping when accelerating in 3rd. I have a vortech and have not driven the car extremely hard. What type of clutch should I look for with the added performance? Does the flywheel also need replacing? I've been quoted $1820.00 to $1930.00 for the work. Is this about right? Lot's "O" money I don't have right now which sucks! I do most of my own work...brakes,plenum spacer, vortech install, and consider myself pretty mechanical. Is this a job I could do myself? Thanks
pulling the tansmission away to get at the clutch and flywheel isnt really an undertaking i would recomend. buy yourself the parts from one of the vendors on the forum. stage 2 is plenty and it wont have too much pressure change over stock so your leg will thank you in traffic.
but price wise they are a bit high ... figure about 900 in labor for the installation and then about 500 for a good combo clutch pressure plate.
here is my vote for you

I just replaced my clutch and flywheel last week. I don't have much mechanical experience and have never done a clutch before, just the basics that you've listed. It was fairly easy, just really time consuming. It took me 2 days. The hardest part is getting it back in. Although, it wasn't difficult I wouldn't recommend doing this without a lift.
I purchased a jwt clutch and a competition clutch flywheel from forged performance. I would give them a call and see what they can get for you. I shopped around a lot and they are definitely the cheapest. The lightweight flywheel has definitely made a difference performance wise.

This is a link to the directions I used. They were spot on expect when removing the flywheel you want to use a t55 torx bit, not a t50.

Thanks for the info. I decided to have it done, and found the ACT HD clutch and ACT HD street flywheel for 1022.00 no shipping. GRD performance said this is the combo they suggest and they will price match. So, all said and done around 1600.00 parts and labor.
