VDC glitch?

I was cruising at about 40-45 mph today on a straight away with a very slight incline. Behind some slow fool, i saw an opening in the lane next to me, so i downshifted from 4th to 3rd and floored it. To my suprise the car kept cruising at the same speed and i noticed the SLIP light start to blink for about 4-5 seconds, then the car took off. I am curios what exactly happened, my wheels didnt break traction once, i know that for a fact. Why did i experience lag like that and for that long of a time? jus curious

You may have been on oil/ice or some other slippery substance and not realized it.
Either that or the VDC is not working properly. The dealer can confirm its operation for you.....BTW are there any warning lights lit in the dash?

sounds to me like you experienced brake stall as the system got it's bearings.

It's possible when you downshifted that the car may have started to lose traction, hence the VDC kicking in and the "lag."

I've noticed this too when I've taken a curve rather quick and tried to accelerate out of it a little too early. The car felt like it was lagging for a second and then took off.

Try turning off the VDC next time and see if the G takes off. KITT, give me all you got!! LOL.
