i bought my V1 couple months ago and i duno if i have pop mode.
when i turn on my V1, it says "pop". does that mean i have pop mode?
i think mine's V 1.8

If you see the display cycle through 'p' upon power on ... then indeed you do have the latest w. POP support.

'p' will display and depending on the frequency the POP radar operates on ... either the 'K' or 'Ka' band indicator will also lit.

 

Valentine has been working on POP and a few other things including Spectre invisibility since last year. They finally did POP in the V-1 a few months ago without advertising the upgrade. Looks like they finally made the announcement. I'm waiting for the full-meal-deal before I upgrade my old V-1 which is a couple of generations back (when they first came out with the new display, and it was 1/4" thicker.

Yes it does w. the X50 model ... but unfortunately it only supports it on one band (Ka) and when activated is oblivious to a heck of a lot more falses. Maybe they'll have a firmware update too.

 

Yo clint whats goin on. I'm am also wondering what the hel pop radar is and why this is such a big deal.

 

I just sent in a REALLY old one to get upgraded, just realized it had the POP on it. When they upgrade the radar do they give you a whole new unit, or do they just upgrade internals

 

Now a day ... if your unit's in good condition they'll just sent you a brand new one and recycle yours.

Actually, it depends on the version of your V-1. Some can be up-graded to the most recent firmware version by sending it back for a re-flash. I don't think this even costs anything except shipping!

If it's an older V-1, as long as the serial number is intact (to prove you are the owner) and in working condition, for your $189, they send you a brand new unit, and mounts, cords, etc.

It's one of the things that makes Valentine truly stand out from the rest!
