waterpump @ 77k?

Just got an oilchange at the dealer and the service advisor said my waterpump is leaking. Could this happen at such low mileage? Or is he bs'ing me... Its an 03.5 coupe

Anything is possible. I would go and inspect the pump to see if it actually was leaking.

let's hope it isn't the water pump, the labour to replace one of those things is absolute hell

If you smell it, its most likely leaking...

Couple ways to know if its leaking..Do a visual inspection for dried antifreeze and-or overspray from your fan spraying it up on the bottom side of your hood.

Is it making any weird noises? Mine went out at around 115k. There are two o-rings that separate the oil and coolant between the water pump. It's possible just those are bad, but I'd swap it anyway. It can be easy to do, but if you never did it before you can jack your engine up by skipping some teeth on the timing chain
I know this from experience, lol. I had to take the timing chain cover off and then decided to replace to guides and chain.

If you look under the car opposite the oil filter there are some weep holes where the coolant will leak from. Check your pil also to see if it looks like chocolate milk.
