P0011 cel/mil?

I just had my code ran and it was a P0011 Camshaft position actuator A. Bank 1 timing.

I replaced the sensor b/c previously I had the code that was for this sensor specifically, don't remember what it was but Infiniti told me it needed to be replaced.

The troubleshooting for this error is to replace the crank position sensor or the cam position sensor. Should I go ahead and order the crank position sensor or try resetting the error code again to see if it stays away?

I replaced the sensor and reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery and then the error code in the op showed up. Did u not read the op? It already says I replaced the sensor lol

If you didn't replace with an oem sensor this could be the problem. Some people have had issues with non OEM can sensors

I have an extra used crank sensor ill sell ya if you do end up changing it out. Should save you some money and I know its good.

It's possible also that its your DCT solenoid...that is what sits on top of the valve cover on the front of the engine. Not a common problem compared to cam sensor though.

Yeah, I picked the sensor up at a local Nissan dealership.

I'm gonna reset the ecu again later and just poke around... I replaced the cam sensor b/c of a different code that said to replace it and Infiniti told me to replace it when they replaced my bottom end for the OC TSB.

If the cam sensor is good - the only other thing I would think of as the problem is the DCT solenoid

So what did you figure out on this? I replaced my passenger side cam sensor with a cheap replacement and it put out all the VDC, SLIP and CEL but now have remaining P0011.

It ended up being tech error when they replaced my short block for the oil consumption tsb. The tech used too much rtv and it was blocking some oil passages.

It had to do something with the timing chain covers, so whichever oil passages can be blocked by too much RTV when reinstalling the covers. They also replaced the cam gears, which they said also contributed to the rattle but they have nothing to do with the oil system. They're clutch style, if I remember correctly.

Can you describe the rattle you mentioned? I might have the same issue. My rattle is only for a second on cold starts and I have a P0011, thanks.

That initial rattle isn't uncommon on startup for cars with several thousand miles. Lots of posts here on it for cars with no SES or posted codes. Mine does it as well
