Smile Speed limiter??

I am sure that this topic has been dealt with at some stage so please forgive me for going over old ground.
I recently took my 2003 V35 Coupe for a speed test on a disused airfield recently and was surprised that the maximum speed that I could achieve was 125mph. I assume therefore that there is a limiter installed somewhere so my question is, how do I remove it and is it harmful to do so?

Thanks

It's called a governor, and the 03-05 came standard with them set at 155mph so if you aren't reaching that there's probably something else that isn't running right and should be addressed first. For removing the governor you just get into the ecu and turn it off, it's not hard or harmful you just need the right program to turn it off, I looked into it a long time ago but dropped it when I found out how high it was already factory set

you can remove it with any ecu tuning software. If you can't get to 125mph, your car has a problem.

Well, since the OP is in France I suspect it may be a Euro/Japan regulated speed limiter. Like others have said, if you upgrade the limit, upgrade your tires to spec.

As above, the JDM spec cars have a speed limiter set at 180kph. My car has this "feature" as well.
