HELP!! Not starting!
HELP!! Not starting!
Ok so the past couple of days my car when starting was turning over very slowly like the battery way dying. This morning I had to jump the car to start it so I went over to pepboys and had the battery tested--dead. Purchased a new battery and hooked it up and now its not even trying to turn over. Im thinking maybe the Immobilizer System activated when I changed the battery? Also I dont have a keypad for the car anymore is their anyway of bypassing the Immobilizer System without a keypad? Its either the immobilizer system or the starter but as I said when I jumped the car it started fine prior to changing the battery.
Please help, my car is still currently sitting at pepboys parking lot and I really dont want to have to tow it if its not necessary.

Does the engine crank over and do you have any lights on the dash on when you turn the key to the on position?I worked at pep boys in the service department years back and would get a lot of dead(new) batteries off the shelf...so i would also check the so called new battery.
No engine is not cranking...just a slight click when I turn the key. Battery I purchased was taken back inside and tested it was fine..battery was tested again once it was hooked up once again it was fine. Also lights on the dash come on, radio comes on, headlights work, air will blow through the ac so I know its not the battery or the clamps or else it wouldnt be getting any power. Im thinking it has to either be the Immobilizer System or the Starter. When the Immobilizer System is activated will the starter still be turning over or does it keep the starter from turning over? The battery is brand new so the terminals are in new condition...I will try to sand the clamps even though they looked pretty good. Is there any manual way to disable the Immobilizer System without the keypad(using just the key the car came with)??
Just to update you guys...after doing a little snooping around under the dash I found out that there was actually an aftermarket alarm on the car (I never got that keypad). Traced wires from the aftermarket alarm and turns out that there was a Immobilizer Bypass that had a switch which I had to switch to the off position and press 'Reset' button. Going to get a keypad tomorrow.
