New member. Need advice on valve cover job.

I am a new member here and I recently purchased a 2003 g35 sedan with 140,000 miles on it. As I was doing a major tune up i noticed oil on the spark plugs. This would indicate that the valve cover gaskets will need to be replaced. Seems like this is a common issue on these cars, but is it as simple as replacing just the gaskets or do other parts need to be replaced as well? I am a Volkswagen mechanic so although I am mechanically inclined I am not too familiar with Nissan engines. Anything to look out for before I jump into this project?

There should be a "do it yourself guide" on here just search for it. Well it will make the job easier and will tell you what is needed.

My mechanic told me to clean out the oil and then check the wells again after a few thousand miles. If the oil hasn't returned then you are probably fine, but if the oil has built up to the same level as previously then you need to replace them.

Not a difficult task especially since you are a mechanic. There is a DIY on this site

Your mechanic does not understand the concept. the o - rings are bad. You need a new pcv valve too.
