Clutch Recommendations

Hi Driver, my clutch feels like it's on it's way out. Doesn't grab nearly as hard as it used to so I know I will be in the market for one in the near future when it completely dies. I would like some recommendations on clutch kits. My budget will most likely be $700 max. I prefer the stock stiffness but I wouldn't mind a stiffer clutch. As long as it's grabbing capacity is as stock or better. I just wouldn't like a clutch I would have to stomp on in order to shift gears.

What are some recommendations? Anyone here have aftermarket clutches? What are your thoughts compared to stock? Thanks in advance.

I currently have the ACT street clutch with JWT flywheel. The ACT clutch holds very well. I have taken off starting at 4k to redline and the clutch holds without slipping. The clutch point is very predictable and very close to stock after being broken in. The flywheel on the other hand is raspy at low rpm and requires the revs to be higher than 2k or else hear noises.

I recommend the ACT street clutch with stock flywheel.

Exedy stock replacement clutch is a little stronger, excellent brand and quality, only $250. You need to replace the flywheel that is the major expense. OEM is like $900. There is a replica "LuK" that is about $500. Our flywheels are 2 piece dual mass flywheels. If you get a single piece aftermarket flywheel it will be noisy.

Then labor, which varies, $300 - $600+

The whole job will cost $1,100+

Ahhh. You guys are very informative, thank you.I will take your advice and go with a new oem flywheel. My car does chatter a bit, I dont know if its from the clutch system, or cats/heat shield. I wouldnt want a noiser car.

Exedy, act, id like to hear more thoughts on aftermarket clutches. Thx guys s

Had an ACT heavy duty clutch and Jim wolf flywheel before going with an exedy setup. The ACT is more stiff that stock but overall not bad in regards to feedback. Was able to take off in 2nd gear during stop and go traffic if that's of concern.

The South Bend SS Street kit would be a good option if you can raise your budget just a bit.

Great kit for the price. https://g35driver.com/forums/vendor-...r-special.html

If you can't spend that much feel free to contact us, I can set you up with something great for the price you can afford.
