rebuilding VQ, FI or NA
rebuilding VQ, FI or NA
I am really confused and need some input on what would be my best option.
I am on a budget so i'm not trying to fork over serious amounts of cash, but i recently picked up a VQ35 to re-build to put into my G35 that is currently burning oil like no other. The oil consumption is pissing me off so i'm just going to go with a new motor..
but my main concern is how i should build it. I honestly want around 300-375whp and i will be happy. I do daily drive the car and i want it reliable as possible. would i just be best off shooting for 300whp and keeping it NA or doing FI and shooting for around 350whp.
also since im only shooting for the 300whp area do i need to build my block with anything special or is stock block just fine as far as compression ration and pistons/rods and all that..?
let me know guys! i have been doing a lot of research and just can't get a grasp on what i want to do!

You won't break 300whp NA unless you have pretty much unlimited funds or a very generous dyno. FI and NA are completely different, not just in how you build it but also in how the car acts once its done, you need to decide what you are hoping to achieve with the car, then plan to build it, don't ask people online what to do.
The question you should really ask yourself is how are you going to drive the car. If you're going to putt putt it around town I would do bolt on's and a tune and enjoy but if you're going to see some track time here and there and you really want to build the motor than I say kill two birds with one stone build it to handle FI. With the horsepower numbers you're shooting for the motor will more than be up to the task to handle it but also remember speed cost money, how fast do you want to $pend and the harder you work the motor the easier it is for things to break and break in a big way....just my two cents sorry for rambling.
