Can you Paint the Stock Plenum???

Can you paint the stock engine upper plenum? If I use the Dupli-Coat high temp spray paint (1200 degrees)?

Is this safe to do or will it chip?

Thanks.

Jason

I have def seen it done. But since I haven't done it myself, I'm not sure what they used.

Also, polished metal holds heat better than non-polished. Just something to consider. Although it looks very sharp IMO, there is a slight trade off.

Polishing reduces surface area.

Thumbs up

[QUOTE=qmaster8]Can you paint the stock engine upper plenum? If I use the Dupli-Coat high temp spray paint (1200 degrees)?

My vote is yes you can!
The prep work is the key. Completely clean it with solvent and a wire brush.
I used the High Temp Ceramic and then baked it in my friends kiln at 350 degrees for 3 hrs. to make it super hard, so it should not chip.

Actually....I did not want "shine".
I was after more of a matt, powder coated look.
Also, the paint has ceramic in it to dissipate heat evenly. The clear coat messes it up and makes it hold more heat.
