05 rev up
05 rev up
So I know in the 05 and up g35s they have a rev up motor. Is the only difference the heads of the motor? Cause if so wouldnt I be able to just buy the rev up heads and put them on a, say, p03 motor?
At a very bare minimum the timing covers are different as well, as is the ecu (which controls the variable cam timing on both exhaust and intake - the main advantage). I would assume the covers would probably bolt right up but making the rev-up ecu work is another story.
It might be possible with an aftermarket tuning software to use the timing functions on your stock ecu but I don't know that I've seen it done or if it would work.
I'm pretty sure I'm missing some things but the jist of it is no, it's not a straight easy plug and play.

I don't know if this helps, but my 05 6mt rev up sedan threw a rod, I have no idea why.. but anyways, I ended up getting an 04 6mt engine off a coupe, replaced the heads from my rev up to the 04 model. I kept all my stock ecu, harness etc. Took the head to machine shop, put them back into the 04 motor, set the timing and so far it's working normal.
Idles, drives, sounds the same as when I had my 05 rev up engine.
Don't know if this helps.
