3200 RPMs at 80MPH?
3200 RPMs at 80MPH?
Hey guys,
I am new here. I just bought a 06 G35 coupe and I love it....but gong down the freeway I noticed I was doing 3200 rpms going 80mph...Is that normal? Is a 5a...
Thanks

Yeah same here, the first thing I noticed was the RPMs at cruising speeds... I have the same year/transmission and even going 50 lands me at 2k RPM even after letting off the gas whereas in my other car (Corolla) I cruise at 50 at 1700 PRM or so and letting off the gas drops it to 1300... maybe I'm just not used to the way the engine and transmission work in the G but I've always noticed the same thing lol
Most 5AT's have a 3.3final drive which one doing 80 you should be around 2900/3000 rpm.
but some of them have 3.5 final drives(which is what the 6MT have)
Certain models of the 5AT have the 3.5,
However if 3.5 is installed your RPM's at 80 should be around 3200.
The 3.5 offers a nice mechanical advantage over the 3.3 (acceleration wise)
