03 04 g z motors are the same, you shouldn't have any issues.

Everything should match perfect but you will need to install a new pilot bearing for the manual trans.Napa part #0780701

Hey Conway, curious - why did you need a new engine in your 2004 6MT ?? Was it just tired, or did it fail in some way ??

I also have a 2004 6MT with 115K miles on it, ran great until a large chunk of an exhaust valve on cylinder #4 decided to vacate the motor this past July 4th, resulting in complete loss of compression in #4. Left some pits and scratches but cleaned up well when I took it to the machine shop and had the heads completely rebuilt with a 5 angle performance valve grind to boot..

Minor scratches on cylinder wall #4, but everything appeared OK so we put the rebuilt heads back on and thought "good to go". Has over 180 lbs. compression in every cylinder (max per manufacturer), is snappy and runs like a scalded dawg, and idles as smooth as it ever has. Problem is that it keeps fouling the plug on cylinder #4 and the plug is covered with oil and deposits - going through a quart of 5/30 wt every 500 miles or less now. Prognosis is that I have a broken oil ring on #4, while compression rings are just fine - which sucks. Kind of like a world class athlete who is at the top of his game, but is diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and won't live another year!

Looks like I've gotta get a new motor myself, so thanks for the info on the interchangeability of auto and stick motors (didn't think there was a difference, but ya never know).

Just curious ....
