How to get a Sub 5 Second N/A 0-60

Hey, guys, I swear i saw a thread a while back (before i was even a member here) that had a list of modifications that could get you sub 5 second 0-60 times. For the life of me, however, I cant seem to find it, so I actually wanted to start a new thread where we could discuss performance mods that could take our cars from the 5.5 second (6mt coupe) times to around a 4.9 or better (4.7 would be awesome) area without gutting the car or adding FI.

I understand that bolt on applications dont do a whole lot as far as HP/TQ gains for our cars are concerned and 6-8/10 of a second is a huge gain in performance, but chassis rigitity, suspension upgrades, weights of lubricants, weight of the car, proper tuning and aerodynamics have a lot to do with these times just as much as sheer HP/TQ. This also makes for a great challange of sheer engineering, so I find that to be interesting as well.

Anyone got an N/A G35 that can hang with a 370Z? Lets hear about your setups.

A NA G35 wont hang with a 370Z unless the Z has a horrible driver.

With you being a 6mt I'd go with 4.08 gear swap then just go from there. I have my car down to 13.3 like you said its all about setup.

I wouldn't count on it happening. For comparison, here's a list of cars that are capable of doing so: http://www.autosnout.com/0-60-Times/...-5-seconds.php.

No, I dig that it'd be hard, but I don't think its impossible. I mean relieving 200lb alone would take us down to 5.3, so that brings us a 3rd of the way. The only problem is that our engines come pretty much maxed out from the factory, so you gotta think outside of the hp box.

Indianaman, is that your gear setup? Is it your daily?

I think it is possible, lets think about it this way. A 13' Mustang GT 5.0 stock clicks the 1/4 between 13.0-13.3 per the latest article i read, that puts the 1/8th about 8.4-8.6 and what are the stock 0-60 times? 4.7-5.0 now does that mean with me running a 13.3 that im pulling a 4.7- 4.8, 0-60 probably not but its pretty damn close but for sure sub 5 sec.
No unfortunately I am auto and its more involved to do the swap then the mt. Yes it is my daily driver but soon to be parked. Do a search on youtube there are guys that have done it. It'll definitely put you under 2.0 60' and sub 5sec 0-60

OP, I didn't say it was impossible I said it was unlikely. Since I've been here I haven't seen any N/A, full interior G35's that have pulled a 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. Few may have done it though.

Too many unknown variables for an accurate comparison. Using the 1/8 mile information on your timeslip would give you a better idea. I ran an 11.8 the last time I was at the track and I calculated a 4.8s 0-60 based off the 7.7@95 1/8 mile info, again calculating it like this will not be completely accurate either.

11.8 would definitely be a sub 5 second 0-60. While not accurate, yer 1/4 mile would definitely be a close indication of your 0-60. Is say indianaman is probably 4.9-5.2 with a 13.3 1/4. He's already shaved half a second off the quarter mile so I assume he's done similarly well with his 0-60.

What kind of mods are you running to see 11.8? That's actually really good.

I agree with the unknown variables. But I hate to say it but if your pulling a 7.7 in the 1/8 you must be running at least a 1.7-.8 60' and with that your for sure mid 4's thats C6 times my friend. What are you TT?

Nah, no worries man. Suggestions are what I'm looking for. This is my DD tho, so I would be interested in the overdrive of the more stout gears. Losing a few MPGs wouldnt be a huge deal, but 10mpg ain't gonna do it for me either. How does it perform on that end of the spectrum? (Yes, I'm looking for the perfect combination of fuel economy and 'make yer passenger **** themselves")

No, I'm waiting til my cats go. I'm at 10yrs so I figure I don't have too much longer. May have to have one of you out of state guys ship me some tho. I'm in cali and they're really hard to get. Theyre coming down so hard on that stuff. Which is silly, cuz I had hfc on my camaro and it passed smog easy.

lol... Thats the fine line that this car walks. You get decent fuel economy and respectable performance. With you being in California im not familiar with the regs that you guys have to deal with. Now, with that being said theres always a give and take. I know there are guys on here and other sites as well that can give you a little more input as to mpg.
