ac compressor

Hey guys, earlier last week i turned on my ac and brought the temp down to 60, but the air that was coming out wasnt very cold but it wasnt warm. I thought i might need a recharge.
So this weekend i finally dropped by autozone and picked up a can of r134. As i was about to do the recharge i looked down at the ac compressor and saw that a piece of it was loose. The front of it is pretty much starting to separate itself from the compressor. The actually pulley part of it does spin.

So my question is, is that whats causing the ac not to get cold? I tried to push it back in but it was pretty tight. If it is, is changing the ac compressor something i can do at home? Thanks in advance.

I don't know what year and model you have but I would imagine the compressors are the same. The FSM for an 06 Coupe, ATC page 138: http://psedog.com/cars/fsm/g35/coupe/2006/atc.pdf.

Oh man you got that in time. Hope the shims inside where the plate goes are still inside. the bolt i think is a 10mm socket, forgot the thread pitch and length though, gotta thru my papers and check it out later. See if you can take out the face plate but be extra cautious as the shims are inside the shaft of the plate. You loose those your gonna be ripping your hair out looking for replacements. Don't know how many shims the coupe has, but i'll bet it's the same as my '07 sedan which are 3.

Found the spec of the bolt plate M10 x 1.00mm x 22.56mm. First number is bolt diameter followed by thread pitch which is the space between each thread. and third is the length. 22mm or 23mm works as well.
