Engine lift how to?

I have a 06 g35 coupe, was wondering if I disconnected the motor mounts is it possible to raise the engine some with a simple floor jack? Or has anyone tried this yet? My goal is to install some new headers without ripping apart the engine bay. From what I understand it's a PITA and time consuming but I just want any easy route or tricks I can do to achieve this goal with minimal hassle..thanks ahead of time!

You would probably have to disconnect the tranny if you want to raise the engine more than an inch using a jack.

I just finished up my DC header and ART pipe install. It was kind of a pain, but I think it was mostly due to being unfamiliar with the car. I did my MRev myself as well, but this is a bit more in depth. After its done, I can say it wasn't terrible. I would say getting the coolant pipes off, and back on is probably the worst part. All the factory hose clamps are turned to nearly impossible positions to get at, and some hiding, hard to reach bolts. I also had a hard time with the steering shaft being rusted together, and trying to be gentle with it to not F anything up. After getting nowhere with it for quite a while, I got a bit rougher with it and it came right apart. Just make sure you have an extensive selection of deep/shallow sockets, extensions and swivels. You'll need damn near 3 feet of extensions just to get the top bolt on the manifold to cat flange, as you can only access this bolt from the front. Good luck! I did it with absolutely no help, but lots of beer, and an awful lot of cursing.
