Question G35 engine swap or stock?

I need some help and suggestions please.

I have a 2004 g35 coupe, the piston rod shot out the side of the motor.
I am an auto technician that plans to do the swap myself.

I can go with a stock motor which runs about $2300.

Before I do that I was wondering if there is maybe a different motor I can look into for the swap.

I am hoping to track it one day. With motor out I can maybe build it first before installing.
I don't plan on spending over 5k on motor though, unless its really worth it. I see people have put 2jz, ls1, rb
with that being said I don't think I want to swap out transmission as well.

Swap will be done in my own driveway.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the engine. How many miles, how did it happen, what do you think was the cause? Are you FI?

For engines, not too many options out there, but for reliability, compatibility with parts, and cost, I'd keep with stock.

Just because it's advertised as running doesn't mean those cheap Chinese piston rings Nissan installed haven't failed! There's a company on our Marketplace under vendor engines that rebuilds our VQ motors using good parts starting at $3K, that would be my choice...Search!
