Dead Cylinder. $13k engine replacement
Dead Cylinder. $13k engine replacement
so my problems started a few weeks ago when my engine started misfiring. long story short, the stealer did a compression test today and its completely dead. they wanna charge me $13,000 to put in a used motor they found with 104K miles. said theres no way to disable that cylinder and only run on 5. i didn't even bother asking them what it would cost to repair it. i think to them i have two options, buy a new car or pay the money to get a new engine.
so now I'm here to ask what my REAL options are. what should i do?
edit: Car is an 08 Infiniti G37S with around 126k miles

Depends on the shop. Rebuild will cost more because they have to tear the engine apart. The other two options would be a swap. Call some places and get quotes on swap labor.
You'll have to find a local shop that handles Z/G and ask an installation quote from them...
Typically $3k-$5k, but that's in my area...
