Shifter shaft spins..wtf?
So, not sure if anyone's changed their shift **** with a new OEM one, but the OEM one is just as hard to get fully on as it is to get off.
Anyway, I had vice grips on the shaft, but when I was getting close to it being fully on (with my very strong arms) something gave and now the shaft can spin. What did I break?

It still works perfectly. All gears are fine, everything goes in straight, quick and easy (giggity). Its just that I can spin the shifter shaft now. Obviously I don't want this happening, and worse case scenario I just get a 350z shifter, but if its an easy fix I'd like to know what it is.

Shifter shaft
This is the only thing I could find that's even remotely close to whats going on. In this pic there is a pin in the housing and a groove on the shifter literally there just to keep it from spinning. This is not a Nissan shifter tho. Found a Toyota site with a similar "pin" conversation tho. Guess I'm taking it apart today..

Alright, I fixed it.
The shaft is actually two pieces held together (seemingly) with compression. I somehow broke the bond (with my strong arms) causing the top half to spin. Once I took it apart, the top half just came right off. I seriously don't see how they were held together..there are no clamps, pins, crimps or anything. I think the factory just compressed the sleeve side over the shaft side (bottom half)
I just used some red locktite and crimped the sleeve onto the lower half of the shaft. It ain't goin anywhere.

why you didn't go with a black one as you progress towards you black interior swap I'll never know..
I'm never gonna do that. I'm not patient enough. Plus, it was the willow one that was for sale.
I've got a black shift ****, and shift assembly if you want it
