Hey fellas really need some help to get my 2004 g35 sedan out of fail safe mode . At check light just started showing last night and now my car won't change gears , feels like it's stuck in 4th . Car starts up fine .Checked all my fuses already .Reset the ecu and nothing . No cel or codes on ecm or Tcm . At check light flashes once then stays one.Has anyone encountered this problem ?
I had that issue a year ago. I forgot what it was called but if it is the same issue that I had, I'm afraid its going to be a costly repair. I would take it to a transmission shop (reputable of course) to see what they say.
Best bet would be to check out do a transmission drain and fill and replace the filter and do a negative battery disconnect. Its not too much money versus a new transmission and does not hurt to try out.
See if the scanner from OBD is outputting any codes as well.
Thanks a lot guys! Got the Tcm scanned again and found out that a few solenoids on the valve body are bad . Gonna see if a new valve body fixes it . You guys know if a 350z valve body with Tcm work with the g35 ?
I went to autozone hooked up the code scanner but nothing came out the guy told me that the light needs to be on for the code reader to read... Since the light is off what shpuld i do??

I dont think those cheapo autozone scanners can pick up transmission codes. Just check engine codes.

The best thing to do with an AT check light is take it to the dealership for a diagnostic so they can give you the exact trouble code.
Alternately some parts stores like Napa, Autozone, etc will have a scan tool that reads transmission codes. They will scan for free but normally they only do OBD2 engine codes, dealership will charge you 1 hour of labor to scan the code.
